Short Biography


He was born in Lalín (Galicia – Spain) in 1968. He holds a degree in Geography and History from the University of Santiago de Compostela with an extraordinary award. Doctor in Geography, he has a master's degree in Local Development, he was a professor at the University of León and is a tenured professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Santiago de Compostela.

Author of a dozen books and co-author of almost twenty other publications in his specialty, in addition to having participated in forty collective books, Román Rodríguez directed master's and postgraduate courses linked to the theme of territorial planning at several universities.

He was also awarded the Critic's Prize of Galicia (2000), in the field of research.

In 1999 he was elected councilor by the PP in Lalín, with responsibilities in Culture, Environment, Urban Planning, Local Development and Spokesperson.

In the 2009 elections, he obtained minutes as a regional deputy to be later appointed deputy speaker of the Popular Group and speaker in the areas of Education, Urban Planning and Territorial Planning.

From February 2015 to September 2018, he was Councilor for Culture, Education and University Planning.

He was Councilor for Culture and Tourism from September 2018 to September 2020 and then Councilor for Culture, Education, Vocational Training and Universities.
