Victoria is responsible for providing strategic legal advice across the company’s global operations about information risk management, regulatory compliance, incident prevention and response, and cybersecurity awareness and training initiatives.
Victoria is a Certified Privacy Manager (CIPM) and Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Prior to joining Shopify, Victoria managed Microsoft’s Digital Crimes Unit for the Americas.
A native of Colombia, Victoria spent years as a public defender in Arizona first assigned to capital habeas appeals and later trying major felony cases. Prior to practicing law, Victoria was an industrial engineer in the technology and automotive sectors and a competitive figure skater.
Victoria has been recognized globally for her expertise and leadership in cybersecurity as well as her efforts to support women, especially Latinas, in the legal and security industries. Most recently, she was named “Top Women in Cybersecurity – Latin America” (WomCy, 2022 & 2023), “Rising Star” (MCCA, 2021), “Top 50 Cybersecurity Influencer” (Engatica, 2022), and “Cybersecurity and Privacy Legal Professional of the Year” (CYA, 2020).
