Vanessa Escrivá (Valencia, Spain) holds a degree in Advanced Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. She began her career developing bioengineering projects, building image-based diagnostic tools for cardiac pathologies.
She joined KPMG in 2003 and worked on a wide variety of projects for many of Spain’s leading enterprises. In 2007, she began her career at MAPFRE, Spain’s benchmark insurer and the leading global insurance group in Latin America, where she led the corporate technology audit area in 25 countries.
In 2016, Vanessa was tasked with developing the core technology driving MAPFRE's main IT platform and rolling it out across multiple geographies. In 2019, she was appointed Assistant General Manager for all corporate solutions, including the full implementation of Life, Auto and Reinsurance components.
In 2021, Vanessa was named Group Chief Information Officer, a role that also sees her collaborate closely with Fundación MAPFRE in executing its technology projects.
Vanessa is passionate about promoting the role of women in STEM disciplines and is highly regarded for her commitment to promoting the transformative role technology plays in our society. She serves as a member of the advisory board of CIOs of Spain and is involved in numerous influential forums that foster dialogue and ongoing development in the Spanish and Latin American markets.
In 2023, Vanessa was honored by the Orange Foundation, who presented her with the Women and Technology award in recognition of her work in the field of IT. She also won the CIONET Vocento 2023 award for the best CIO of the year.
Vanessa holds a Management Development Program on Strategy Management from the Babson College (USA).
